In discipline decision-making, our instinctual response to unwanted behavior might arise from implicit bias and make things worse rather than better. In these situations, it helps to have a neutralizing routine, a strategy to use in place of a potentially biased response. However, neutralizing routines are not just for adults --we can teach them to students as well!
